The President's Corner
- October 2006 -

Since I last reported, the WINS Board has considered three motions, which deal with keeping our club afloat. The first of those three fills a WINS Board vacancy, and the latter two help to maintain the WINS operations computer. Those motions are summarized as follows.

Board of Directors Motion 2006-02 was passed in July, 2006. The approved motion appointed Mr. Rick L. Engstrom to the WINS Board of Directors, Office of Newsletter Editor. This appointment is why we have a newsletter to read today. Thanks, Rick, for stepping up and assuming the duties!

Board of Directors Motion 2006-03 was passed in August, 2006. The motion approved reimbursement for the burned-out computer power supply and the network interface card for the WINS operations computer at a total cost of $80.50.

The motion also approved the installation of a broadband wireless connection, to include a monthly fee to access the service. However, the broadband installation was delayed indefinitely due to problems with the expansion of the service area. So no costs for installation or monthly access fees have occurred, thus far. When broadband access finally does become available for our WINS operations computer, the Board hopes to revisit the associated costs and bring our operations computer into the twenty-first century.

Board of Directors Motion 2006-04 was passed In September, 2006. The motion approved reimbursement for RAM memory, which was damaged when the WINS operations computer's power supply burned out, at a total cost of $125.73.

As always, if any WINS member has a desire to read any of the Board motions in their entirety, to include the votes of the Board members, please ask me and I'll forward a copy of the motion and a roster of the votes.

Please know that your Board of Directors is consistently working hard for you behind the scenes. In full, or in part, the Board continually discusses the maintenance and well-being of our society. We answer questions from many members and deal with inquiries from non-members, most of which emanate from the WINS web site. We discuss and implement updates and upgrades.

And, yes, we even deal with minor problems and complaints.

Aside from the obvious, whereby you receive our newsletters, bid in our auctions, and stay abreast via our web site, the Board stays busy with maintaining our email lists, processing new members, paying our bills, keeping our records, handling mail from our Post Office Box, running committees and discussing our future. The Board has nothing but the best interests of our club at heart. And though you see very little of this regular routine, without the daily dedication of my fellow Board members - especially our Operations Administrator and List Mommy - WINS wouldn't exist as it does today.

Committee members and volunteers also contribute immensely to the success of our club. The many members who have donated coins to our auction; and those who have donated auction proceeds; as well as those who have donated cash help to keep our treasury in the black. And that helps us independently maintain the club we've all enjoyed for more than six years. I'd be remiss in not acknowledging those who participate on our Talk list every day, and those who contribute articles to our newsletters. The depth and breadth of your knowledge never ceases to amaze me. The sharing of your wealth of information is what this club is all about. Your contributions continue to make WINS the best coin club on the internet. I thank each and every one of you.

Best Regards,

Ralph J. Huntzinger
WINS President
