LOT 165. USA, SILVER ART BAR & AN "AMERICAN CAROUSEL" COLLECTIBLE
One oz, .999 fine silver artbar nude "Marilyn" from the 1970s & a 1987 limited edition (#4461 of 4500) "American Carousel" designed by Tobin Fraley. This signed piece is comprised of a Charles Looff carousel horse (circa 1905) and a Wurlitzer 146A Band Organ (circa 1922) 50 note musical movement that plays two different intricate melodies: "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" and the "Four Seasons". The Wurlitzer design also includes a specially minted brass coin stamped with the piece's number. The reserve price is 1½ times less than I paid for this piece and less than ¼ of the last secondary market value I obtained. This wonderful piece was origianlly an anniversary gift for my spouse, but we have both decided we need the funds more than we need it sitting on a shelf. |
