LOT 210. 1889 MORGAN DOLLAR & LGB 2028D MOGUL "BIG TRAIN"
The Morgan dollar is a raw MS63 with some "chatter" on the cheek and minor toning between some of the letters on the reverse. The Lehmann-Gross-Bahn (LGB) "G" scale "Big Train" (665 mm long) 2028D Mogul is based on the Denver, South Park and Pacific Railroad (D.,S.P.&P.R.R.) 2-6-0 locomotive from the latter part of the 19th Century. This locomotive can still be seen on the Silverton-Durago scenic railroad today and is the one locomotive that every backyard "Garden Railroader" must have as their centerpiece. It's a piece of old West history and one of the orginal locomotives might even have provided transportation for Morgan dollars. In 1996 the 2028D's value was listed as $750.00, if you can find a new version in a train shop the price will probably be around $1100.00. This locomotive has been well cared for and only has about 10 hours of operating time on it having only been used indoors during Christmas around the tree. Includes the original box. Shipping (TBD).
