Lot 4. Lot 4. French Indo-China piastres, 18
different dates, Fine to Very Fine, 39mm in diameter, 27.2150 grams (1885
to 1895). 900 silver, 27.000 grams (1895 to 1928) , KM 5. Indo-China,
comprised of the protectorates of Annam, Tokin, Cambodia, Laos and
the colony of Cochin-China, all under French colonial rule until mid 1945.
The uprising of 1945 may be an indication that the coin's symbolism wasn't
shared by the French and Vietnamese Nationalist. These coins depict
a seated statue of liberty very similar to the standing Statue of Liberty
given to the people of the United States by the people of France in 1885.
Some coins show signs of being buried, some have been cleaned, all are
a unique part of the history of that region. Dates include:
1887, 1894, 1896, 1898, 1899, 1900, 1901, 1902, 1903, 1905, 1906, 1907,
1908, 1909, 1921, 1922, 1925, and 1926. Reserve - $150.00

[Slabbing Service Mismatched Labeling] NGC has labled it as a 1923.
Some folks actually collect these mismatches. This piece was one
of the lots won on WINS Auction 3, purchased with the intent of making
it a contribution auction for the benefit of WINS in Auction 4 & I
only noticed the mismatch when the coin arrived. Well, I guess that's
why pencils have erasers on them :) Anyway, 100% of the entire winning

Lot 12.USA Bagful of 150 count Philadelphia Mint Jefferson
Nickels, minted between 1938 thru 1955. Average Circulated, grades
generally falling between F to VF or better, no junk. All minted
at the Philadelphia Mint. Nothing pulled except Silver War Nickels.
These were pulled from many hundreds of dollars worth of bank rolls &
bags in the late 1970's. Getting very difficult to obtain any kind
of quantity of these by looking thru change these days. Starting
at face value. But, to be sure that this bag of joy is more fun than
a barrel full of monkeys, I have included 5 additional randomly selected
coins as follows: 1) a Liberty Head "V" Nickel in good condition; 2) a
Silver War Nickel in circulated condition; 3) an "S" Mint Nickel from the
same date & grade range; 4) a "D" Mint Nickel, same date/grade range;
& 5) a dateless Buffalo goes along for the ride. That makes the
total piece count for this lot 155 coins & thus starting under face
value at Reserve: $7.50.

Lot 14. Set of Lincoln Head Cents Starting 1941
in Whitman Folder No. 9030 bearing Copyright date of 1949. 82 coins
in all, grading, generally, F-VF to BU. The Set is complete with
all regular business strikes of 1941 thru 1970-S, then has the following
coins: 1971, 71-D, 72, 72-D, 73 & 74. Therefore, missing are
the 1971-S, 1972-S, and the 1973 & 1974 D & S. To help make
up for some of the missing items, a randomly selected Indian Head Cent
in full good or better condition has just been added to the folder in the
last, previously empty, hole in the folder. That leaves 6 empty holes
capable of housing all 6 of the missing coins in order to complete the
set thru 1974-S. While the folder itself is in good used condition,
the front page has started tearing away from the remainder of the album
& has been neatly taped to prevent further tearing. Great startup
set for the young or new collector or as a gift suggestion. This
set will start at it's face value of 82 cents plus the free Indian Cent
makes this set starting at a Penny under face. Why the three Wartime
Steel Cents alone could be worth that much. For those not familiar
with the USA Lincoln Head Cent Series, after the USA's entrance into World
War II, copper, for among other things, became needed for the War effort
for use as ammunition shell casings and in 1943 Cents, minted at all 3
of America's minting facilities at Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco,
were coined from Zinc coated Steel. Whereafter, the War having produced
an abundance of spent ammunition shells, shell casings & cartridges
were melted down for use in minting USA cents during the years of 1944
thru 1946 inclusive. Shell case cents (0.950 copper & 0.050 tin)
and regular, pre-1982, alloy cents (0.950 copper & 0.050 tin &
zinc) are virtually identical in composition, save for a trace amount of
tin which is absent from the shell case coppers. This short set of
Lincolns is jam packed rich with American history. Starting at a
Penny under face value. Larger scan files available by email upon
request. Reserve: $0.82.

Lot 17. 1721 British Farthing minted in copper &
issued during the rein of King George I. A handsome piece in Fine
+ overall. Many very old copper coins have various degrees of pitting,
porosity, verdigris, and so forth -- this piece exhibits a minimum of such
& hence a premium coin for grade. The coin's size is a hair larger
than a USA 5 Cent nickel coin. Oldest coin on the auction block so
far. I have a certain fondness for these old coppers -- a 1720 Farthing
in about the same grade was my first British coin purchase at a local show
as an early teen. This coin, in person, with loupe in hand, does
not exhibit the color variations to the extent that the scanner chose to
accentuate. My scanner is 'brutal' on even the slightest imperfections
& variations in colour. This piece is a deep dark rich chocolate
brown and may have been lightened slightly in photofinishing so as not
to display a black disc to auction viewers. Considering what old
USA coppers go for, this piece is very modestly priced with a Reserve of
just $29.95.

The coins of Sarawak. There are 21 coins in
the type set of Sarawak. The very first coin a 1 Keping of 1841 with

the shipments were captured or lost. An estimated 50 coins survived.

of the dollar standard of Singapore and the coins were of the same size
and weight as those of the Straits Settlements. The coins did circulate
in the region and were used in Singapore.
