LOT 11. AUSTRIA 1780 MARIA THERESA THALER This proof restrike coin is one of eight I recently acquired that were stored wrapped in tissue paper (obverse to obverse) for a long time. Edge arabesques indicate it was minted in Vienna, circa 1960. This coin's toning is most noticeable on the reverse where the background field has darkened and was turning light blue at the top. Light blues and reds can be found on the upper part of the reverse design while yellows were starting to tone the design's lower part. The coin's obverse is still quite tone free except around the edge where it's dark yellow. The coin is much nicer than the image below. Proof coins can be tough to image and with the toning, this one was particularly so.

Three unique items, a 38mm bronze medallion of the Old San Francisco Mint, the "Granite Lady" made in September of 1982 (I know because I pushed the button that produced it). And, two post cards picked up in the gift shop, both images of items that were on display at the time; 1. One Million dollars in gold, and 2. The Silver Morgan Dollar Display. I had to be told several times by the guards to step back from the gold display. Boy was it purty!

LOT 14. CHINA 1985 5 YUAN GOLD
.999 fine gold, 1/20oz. This coin has been used as jewelry and has probably been cleaned more than once. The composition of the bezel is unknown, but I was told it was gold when I purchased it. The bezel's prongs that hold the coin in place are soft enough that I can bend them with my fingernail. The coin weighs 24 grains and the bezel wieghs 12 grains on my powder scale. The coin does have some hazy sections around the rim edge, but I can not determine what it is, and it has many fine lines from wear. It's a shame it was made into jewelry, but gold is gold. Satisfy you daughter's craving to have you coins around her neck, give this to her for Christmas.

LOT 60. MILLION DOLLAR BILL
"Million Dollar Bill" produced in 1988 by the American Bank Note Company for the "International Association of Millionaires." Not sure how I ended up with it. This is a high quality, intaglio printed note with more
anti-counterfeiting devices than was being used by the BEP at the time. It comes with obligatory Certificate of Authenticity, plastic sleeve, nice looking envelope, lots of hype, and may even be legal tender in the Northern Mariana Islands (but probably isn't).

Offered By:
Ian Milne WINS#23, Ireland, UK
LOT 75. 1869 JETON A silver jeton minted in Paris during the year 1869 for the `La Prevoyance' assurance company. This design was the only jeton issued by
this company and it has never been copied. It is scarce, original, and
has very reflective surfaces which have developed some nice colourful
toning accenting its 3x dimensional nature. Sadly my scans do not do
this piece justice. You won't see many quality pieces like this for
under $100 (the value in 1986 - Gailhouste no.417). A year or so ago I
had the good fortune to purchased five of these from the same seller in
France. The opening bid is what I actually paid for it - $35. I thought
I would give a WINS member the opportunity of owning one. It is
octagonal, measures 36mm (flat surfaces) 39mm (across the diagonals) and
weighs roughly 19 grams. The mintage figure is unknown, but would not
have been high. I certainly won't feel bad if nobody bids for it(honest!).
