The President's Corner
- Apr-May-Jun 2014 -

This is my second letter to the group as president of WINS; time sure does fly. I thought I would start out with a follow up on the progress of our token effort. The order deadline has passed and all funds have been collected. The order was placed by our treasurer the beginning of May 2014, we are to allow six to eight weeks for minting and delivery to WINS at which time I will begin the printing of mailing labels in preparation for a 2014 fourth quarter shipment to members. The total number of tokens ordered by our membership was 130; we have placed the order quantity as to allow extra tokens for future new members should they want to purchase one. I will keep everyone informed once the decision is made for the token delivery date.

Secondly, I would like to address our recent email problems as reported to the lists a few weeks back by JD. I would first like to thank JD for his prompt actions taken in attempts to remedy the situation and for keeping us abreast of the ongoing fixes made to correct the problem. It seems the constant hacking of servers has not only affected email, but websites in general, as seen in the recent eBay compromise of their data. I have received a notice along with my bank statement asking that I change my on-line password and informing me that this request will come every six months or so as a precaution due to the step up in attacks on their servers. While nothing is 100% certain when it comes to Internet Security, be assured that our Systems Operator and other board members will do all in their power to keep us up and running as safely and smoothly as possible.

I'm pleased to see that we have had a few new members join our group in the past few months, one with a very interesting take on the hobby, as he is visually impaired and has helped us all greatly understand the problems a collector has to deal with in those circumstances. There were some very interesting threads on the subject, a subject I sadly say I have not given much thought to. I would like to thank Tom for some very interesting and enlightening posts, and welcome all of the new members to WINS.

Although our membership does not increase in great numbers or at a fast pace, quality is always better than quantity, and we sure have had some quality additions to our group as of late.

I would also like to highlight the upcoming auction 91 scheduled to open on July 19th. Please remember to get your items in to me at least a week before the start date to give me time to process all the information. Thanks to all that have participated in the past auctions, your time and efforts have helped make the WINS auction a success both for our membership personally and our treasury's operation funds through donated items.

In closing, please feel free to contact me or any other board member should you have any questions or suggestions pertaining to WINS.

Dave Noble,
WINS#204, President
