Hello everyone - welcome to another addition of the Tarnished Truth.
Sure has been quiet on the lists lately… I guess everyone is still out enjoying the weather, or the summer lull is a bit thick this year. Maybe it's the economy. Whatever it is, it doesn't seem limited to the lists. I've noticed a similar situation with many of the open forums, and many show reviews have noticed a decline on the floor.
Maybe the hobby needs a government stimulus program to get things jumping again. How about "Cash for Culls"?
Just a thought…
It's that time again - time to look toward the next couple of years for the future for WINS leadership. The election schedule for the 2010/11 board of directors is right around the corner. Please take the time to check out this installment of the 'President's Corner' for more details. Ralph has put together an excellent overview, so if you're thinking of running (and I seriously hope that you are), you will find out all you need to know about the process. Last time, we had very few positions contested. I hope this year has a more robust turnout.
Personally, I will not be running for the position of newsletter editor again. I really hope that someone else is willing to pick up the torch and take things over for a while. It's been fun, but I think I'd like to read from the sidelines for a while.
In other club news, yet another WINS auction has come and passed since our last newsletter. WINS Auction 58 officially came to a close last Saturday. As usual, there were some nice coins up for bid, and I hope everyone took the time to check out what other members had placed. JD has more details on that and other IT news in this installment of 'Behind the Green Curtain'.
Remember the auction want list. I haven't received any requests to add to the list lately. With the Christmas auction right around the corner, it's never too early to voice what you're looking for. You never know, maybe another club member has just the coin to fit the bill.
