ANA Numismatic Summer Internship

I just wanted post this and let everyone on here know that I was selected by the ANA as a Numismatic Summer Intern this year. I am currently spending the first of ten weeks this summer at the ANA Headquarters in Colorado Springs working in a number of different areas. I also am permitted to attend a week of the Summer Seminar, as well as travel as an ANA representative to the World Fair of Money in Milwaukee.

My first task at the Headquarters this past Monday was to plug in the display for the 1794 Dollar owned by Rare Coin Wholesalers and considered by many to be the first silver dollar struck by the US Mint. It was an honor just to do this simple task! So far, I have been working on cataloging some Ptolemaic Egyptian ancients, as well as some Roman Republic pieces. I have also had the privilege of helping to set up the new ANA exhibit, Coins, Crown, and Conflict. It chronicles the period of Oliver Cromwell and the English Civil wars.

I had the opportunity to help arrange the display for and add the famed 1663 Petition Crown to the exhibit. The coin is a true rarity, and this is the finest known example. The collection of British coins in this exhibit is one of the finest English collections to ever be shown in the US.

I will have the opportunity to work in other areas of the ANA this summer including member relations, publishing, the library, and numismatic research. I am so exited to have such a unique opportunity to learn more about the many areas of the field of numismatics. I believe that I will gain a great deal of knowledge from this experience.

If anyone is coming out to the ANA for the Summer Seminars or going to Milwaukee for the World Fair of Money, let me know, as I would love to meet some new faces.

Robbie
