WINS Email Lists - It has been a very long time since I've been able to say this - the new DOMO email lists are operational and working GREAT!  If you have any questions concerning the new DOMO lists, let me know.

I have been asked by several list members to do something about the number of off topic posts to the wins-talk list and while I dislike restricting the conversations, I have a suggestion that might work. When a member posts an off topic thread such as a current medical hurdle to the list, instead of everyone replying onlist wishing that member well, how about posting directly to that member.  We all know that there will be replies, but we all don't have to see them.  This way member get support that is certain to make them feel a little better and the number of posts to the list drops significantly.  It could work and might make everyone a little happier.  I'm not trying to stop the off-topic posts because the have always been a part of what makes WINS a family.  I'm just trying to cut down on the bulk a bit.

IT Update - It has been mentioned more than once how important it is to keep your virus software up to date, but just as important, you've got to be aware of the various ways thieves try to acquire your personal data today.  It's called "PHISHING" and it can arrive in email cleverly disgusted from as someone or a business that you trust.

Recently, I received another "phishing" email variation using ebay's logo and format.  This one "appeared" to have come from one of the ebay power sellers, and the seller threatened to turn me in at ebay's safeharbor if I didn't reply.  I didn't believe it, don't you!  It's a "phishing" email.  If you are using MS Outlook or Outlook Express, mouse over the "RESPOND NOW" graphic and then look in the browser's lower tool bar.  It will show you that the address you would respond to has nothing to do with ebay, and if you were to select the "RESPOND NOW" you would be taken to another HTML page that looks just like an ebay page to sign in.  If you do, the bad guys get your ebay access data.  Then you're going to be asked to verify your PayPal account data, because they've had a computer glich or some other equally lame excuse to get you to enter your personal data.  IF you respond to any of this, you will be giving the bad guys everything they need to steal your life through your credit card.  I highly recommend you just delete the email.  Remember, ebay isn't going to ask for this kind of stuff, but the bad guys do.  Don't be fooled.

Auction Update - Auction 35 is scheduled May 6th through the 13th. Members may submit auction items to the auction coordinator until May 5th at 7:00 PM MST using the format illustrated in the Auction Rules.  Members may submit up to 10 hobby-related items each for this auction.

St. Louis Show Report - As promised in the last newsletter, here's my input on the St. Louis show.  I hope it was worth waiting for.

Thanks for readin', "See ya' at the auction".

Thank you kindly,
JD White, WINS#7
