The President's Corner
- September 2005 -

The WINS Club token is still being pursued. For those of you interested in purchasing a club token, we're hoping that we'll be able to offer them by the end of the year. 2005 is the fifth anniversary of the WINS club, and the token commemorates our five years of family-oriented fun. In an effort to keep the token as affordable as possible, the research has taken much longer than originally anticipated. We hope that you'll believe the wait will be worth it. Stay tuned for further developments.

Awhile back, a member proposed to the Board of Directors that the capacity of Operations Administrator be a paid position on the Board. The proposal also included a generous offer to pay the salary of that position for the first year. The logic behind the proposal was that the person holding that Board Seat was the most important to the overall operation of the WINS club. Generally that capacity, among many other things, oversees our website, our email lists, our auctions, our membership updates and applications, and everything associated with the technology that runs WINS behind the scenes.

The members of the Board discussed the proposal. And while we don't disagree with the absolute importance of the position of Operations Administrator, we don't believe that the position should be paid a salary. We felt that the WINS Club shouldn't enter the arena of hiring employees, along with all of the associated employer responsibilities and filings. And we certainly felt that the club's meager treasury couldn't support any kind of continuing payroll. Bottom line - we believe that all Board positions should be occupied by non-paid, elected volunteers.

WINS elections for the Board of Directors are drawing closer. Nominations for WINS elections began August 1, 2005; campaigning is taking place on the CoinTalk Forum; nominations and campaigning will close September 24, 2005; voting for candidates will last two weeks beginning September 25, 2005 and ending October 8, 2005; tallying of the votes and the announcement of the winners will take place during the week of October 9, 2005; and newly elected Board Officers will assume Office on October 16, 2005. If you have any questions, please contact a member of the Board.
