Eight reales have been a long time favorite of mine and seeing Ray's made me long to view one that I have. So I set a snare trap last night to capture a treat for the guard troll and with a furry bundle in hand this morning, set off into the woods. Arriving at my designation, I rolled a moss covered rock away from the low entrance in the rock wall and slowly entered the darkness holding the live rabbit at arms length in front of me. The slightest movement in the air accompanied by a rotting stench told me the guard troll was near. Then the rabbit was torn from my hand and all was quiet.

Knowing I had only a short time to act, I move quickly through the darkness guided only by the attraction to my destination. Sensing it's location more than seeing it in the darkness, I located the large covered cauldron, opened it quietly and retrieved a coin. Replacing the lid I turned and quickly made for the dimly lit opening and safety.

What luck. I picked up the correct coin and didn't even get any claw marks in the exchange. Good thing, I didn't have any more rabbits with me. I hope you enjoy the image of one of my favorite coins (probably because of the date). 1776 Boliva 8 Reale

Now I've got to go set another snare trap so I can put the coin back in my "safety deposit box" tomorrow. It's a good thing there are lots of rabbits up on this mountain.

Thank you kindly,
JD White
