Presidents Corner

Dave Noble, President, WINS#204

Hello Group,

It’s time for another president’s letter. At this writing we find ourselves morning the loss of our club librarian John Mundwiller. It will be hard to find someone who cares as much about WINS and its membership as John did, but we must shortly open a special election to fill his spot on the board. I would ask the membership to please consider volunteering for the position. We will be calling for a special election soon, so give it some thought as the remaining board takes up this matter.

I would also like to let everyone know that we have received the die set used to coin our 15th anniversary tokens. We originally had an agreement with the Northwest Territorial Mint to coin our tokens as ordered and then deface the reverse die and return it to us. We wanted to be sure no other runs could be made with our die set, but the company went out of business and the attorneys handling their affairs returned both obverse and revers dies to us undamaged.

WINS die

The board originally discussed the possibility of placing the defaced revers die in our WINS auction with proceeds going to our treasury. Since we now have both dies in our possession undamaged the board will have to look into this situation and exactly how to handle it. For those new members that might be interested in purchasing a WINS token, please contact me off list at tdnoble@sbcglobal.net.

I am pleased to see we have added some more new members and the list seems to be a little more active as of late. As winter approaches we should see more actions on the list, I know during the summer it is hard to find time to sit down and chat. Our Christmas auction will soon be coming around and I hope to see a better than usual participation, I plan to start early bugging the sellers for items to list, so go through your stuff and see if you have anything you would like to sell. I hope you all stay well and enjoy all your coin collecting endeavors, and get started on that Christmas wish list, remember Santa may need some time to save up a little.
